Rebecca’s Wish Welcomes Camp Hope

Attention all kiddos with pancreatitis! Have you dreamed of going to summer camp and never felt it would be possible in your life because of your pancreatitis?

Well, dream no more. Rebecca’s Wish – in partnership with National Pancreas Foundation- will be hosting a camp in the summer of 2022 specifically for children with pediatric pancreatitis. And the entire camp. WILL. BE. FREE! We’re calling it Camp Hope, and here is a link to a video with Rebecca’s Wish President Christyn Taylor with more about Camp Hope. Please stay in touch with Rebecca’s Wish for more exciting news about the Camp as we get closer to next summer.

Meantime, we’re kicking off Camp Hope with an exciting virtual event on Saturday, October 16th from 12pm – 4pm Eastern Time. We’re hosting a day of fun for your children, and showcasing a conversation with one of the top researchers in the field of pediatric pancreatitis for our first-ever “Camp at Home: Pediatric Pancreatitis Family Day.” The virtual camp will be hosted by The Painted Turtle, a SeriousFun camp founded by late-actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. “We were really hoping to start Camp Hope this past summer,” stated Rebecca’s Wish President Christyn Taylor whose daughter Rebecca founded the nonprofit in her name after her long and painful ordeal with pediatric pancreatitis. “And obviously, because we weren’t able to do that (because of COVID-19), we didn’t want to wait for these kids to be able to meet each other.”

Program Highlights Include:

  • A half-day, virtual Camp at Home experience for the entire family.
  • A Camp at Home Care Package sent to your family in advance of the camp session.
  • Online and offline program opportunities.
  • Your favorite camp activities for your family to enjoy together, including a campfire, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and more!
  • Specialized times to connect with other children and families in cabin groups, meet with medical specialists, and share with other parents during a Parent Discussion.
